The Plain

Singapore 2011: Breakfast version. OK FINE we woke up too late so yes, brunch/lunch it was *shifty eyes*

Was asking on twitter for places recommended to have brekkie and Alison suggested a few and decided to head to The Plain! When I visit the website all I could think of is... Wah very plain. BUT simplicity/minimalism is always good because then you'll expect less, and you'll end up having more! :P

One thing I like about Plain's is that they have half and full portions. BECAUSE being a greedy freak I am, I love to try varieties when I'm at new places, same goes to everyone right? So yes, I ordered a half and half portion and it was JUST NICE, wasn't like OMG SO FULL nor huhsolittleyoukiddingme sorta portion. ME LOIKE!

The thing with the waitress complimented on my Azorias top, made my brekkie a lot more pleasant, plus I love her hair (ombre-ed blue ends yum)

Location, located next to this junk store which I fell in love with cause they had antiques sold there plus the old man looked pleasant! You know how some old people just look very, pleasant and sincere?? Like my grandparents?? haha

Anyway they have SMEG fridge, not one but TWO. Damn nice lor T_T The last I check a small SMEG fridge costs about... RM 9999 -_- For a fridge. Well your food don't really double its nutrients nor duplicate overnight in the fridge, it's just for the design. I know right but it's so nice!! I'll go for a fridge than a car anytime! And I love the red one!!! Ok baby pink sounds nice too. *melt* We were seated right behind at the benches with few others ah but who cares, we're all there for food :D

Some things NEVER change. Back in Melbourne days, me and Nancy will order the same drink. Hot chocolate for her, and latte for me! My breakfast wasn't like HUMONGOUS RIGHT? I think it's a normal portion. Normally people have like 2 toasts with 2 eggs and ham etc. I had half of Darling Eggs (poach egg, ham, cheese, roasted tomatoes on sourdough) and half of Bircher's Muesli (oats with honey infused yogurt, strawberries, almonds, apples and grapes). It was perfect. I don't know why but it was really satisfying (plus we were just really hungry wtf). And can someone tell me how they made the poach eggs so perfect?! Nancy had the turkey ciabatta (with pesto and avocado!!! i mean how can anything taste bad with avocado!?). The moment I cut my poach egg into half, I knew this is a place I HAVE to go back again. Why must you be in Singapore?

Price wise? I think it was pretty alright, both of us end up paying SGD 29.50. If I remembered correctly my muesli was 3.50, darling eggs about 8.90 and 3 plus for the coffee. Pretty decent, considering you pay RM32++ for a MEH big breakfast set at La Bodega? I'd pay that price for this ANYDAY. I find my comments a bit biased but, that's what you get when I like a place!!

Plus point?? Good lighting for picture taking =P

So right, if my egg isn't poached as said in the menu (yolk hardened; I presume from being left out too long) should I request for a new egg?

This is in Msia though, and I'm afraid they will spit in my food T_T

ally: YES! :D U didnt get meh!? Still on shopping ban? :P LOVE IT! :D

choco: ASK FOR A NEW ONE!!! Means its not freshly cooked and left in the water for too long!! Customers are always right, and if ur eggs not runny enough its not perfect!

anon: thank u!!! Glad ur motivated and please keep your head up high and don't give up k?? Embrace curves and love yourself! That's most important! Self love is better than finding love! :)

Also, I've recently came back from Singapore and my friend brought me to a few places that I really liked! :) Antoinette at Lavender, The Plains, Loysel's Toy for coffee, and I heard this Maxwell Food Centre has pretty good hawker food! I also had this really good katsu don at Mandarin Gallery but it was really quite expensive, I paid SGD30 for my meal (though rice, salad and miso soup is refillable) but if you dont mind burning a hole, u should REALLY try it! it's yummay! =D I think around Ann Siang hill has some pretty good cafe too! But really, the places are pretty scattered and you'll prolly have to take a bus/train and walk there. Hope this helps! :)
